Denise Wong completed both her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Master of Science in Physical Therapy at McGill University.

Throughout her work and education, Denise has gained experience in treating a variety of conditions such as work, sport, and car accident-related injuries. Furthermore, Denise has experience in postoperative rehabilitation. She utilizes manual therapy, the McKenzie method, the Mulligan concept, therapeutic taping, as well as exercise therapy in her treatments. Denise is also familiar with utilizing a range of modalities, including but not limited to TENS, IFC, and NMES.

Denise also works at Vancouver General Hospital and is heavily involved in stroke and neurological rehabilitation.

My approach to therapeutic massage involves modalities that increase body awareness and decrease compression. This typically looks like active release, joint play/traction, and sustained compressions.

Other techniques include general Swedish, trigger point release, breathwork, active/passive stretching and myofascial release.

Dr. Danielle McKinney, originally from Cambridge, Ontario, is a graduate of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. She also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in biology from the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Danielle has been practicing for over 12 years in the Toronto and Vancouver areas.

Dr. Danielle’s areas of concentration include the treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal complaints, ranging from lower back pain and neck pain to headaches, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injuries and plantar fasciitis.

Therapies offered within a chiropractic treatment plan with Dr. Danielle may include chiropractic manipulation, gentle spinal adjustments using instruments, custom orthotics, active rehabilitation exercises and soft-tissue therapy as she has been trained in Active Release Technique® (ART).

Rachel (BA Kin, MSc Sports Science) has practiced Kinesiology for more than 10 years with experience working with soft tissue injuries, postural malalignment, and pain management. When she is not helping patients improve function and movement back into their lives, she enjoys hiking, climbing, snowboarding, yoga, pilates, and boxing.

Rachel strongly believes that a healthy lifestyle and exercise are very important components for improving one’s quality of life.

“From the moment we wake up to the point we go to bed, movement is an essential part of a person’s wellbeing. We all want to move through life with minimal pain and I love seeing a patient’s progression with seeing each client smiling when they get their life back!”

Ava completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a specialization in Neuromechanical and Physiological Sciences. During her time there she volunteered as a research assistant in the Perception Action Lab in the Center for Brain Health examining the effects of concussive and sub-concussive injuries on female varsity athletes.

As a kinesiologist, Ava is passionate about creating personalized exercise programs to holistically improve health and wellness, support injury rehabilitation and empower her clients to live healthier lives. Ava is committed to expanding her knowledge base by keeping up with the latest research and continuously learning new treatment methods and techniques.

Dr. Ryan Takagi’s passion for physical well-being inspired him to pursue a Bachelor of Kinesiology and a Doctor of Chiropractic. He uses joint manipulation and mobilization, a variety of soft tissue techniques, rehabilitative exercises, and lifestyle education to keep his patients functioning optimally.

While completing his Doctor of Chiropractic, he developed an interest in nutrition, which led him to a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine.

He is interested in sports injuries (including extremities and concussions), complex and chronic pain conditions (such as arthritis or fibromyalgia, and adolescent health (including postural syndromes and scoliosis).

He also has a passion for positive youth development, and all the factors that enable youth to lead healthy, productive, and satisfied lives. Did you know he has a podcast? Ask him about it.

He loves that every day is different and that he gets to interact with people on a personal level. For him, health has always been a resource for living and not an objective. He likes being a resource for others.

In addition to his Chiropractic practice, he is the Lead Faculty for the Tanzania Rehabilitation Project through the Global Peace Network, which is working to improve physical rehabilitation resources in Tanzania through education and capacity building.

He grew up in a small town in the BC interior. Like many Canadian kids, he grew up playing hockey. One of his first jobs was driving the zamboni at the rink. After many years playing hockey, he switched to varsity rowing in University — one of the most physically challenging sports he has done. Now, he runs, hikes, and bikes when he has time. 

Recently he has been exploring movement through artistic expression, using photography and drawing as other ways of interacting with and exploring the relationships we have with our bodies.

Andrew Moussavi, BSc, MSc

Andrew Moussavi obtained his BSc with distinction in Biomedical Physiology at Simon Fraser University and then went on to complete his MSc in Physiotherapy at the University of Alberta.

Throughout this journey, he was privileged to gain valuable clinical experience in advanced orthopedic mobilizations, post/pre-surgical rehabilitation, chronic pain and vestibular rehabilitation.

Andrew’s passion for Physical Therapy can be traced back to his recovery from multiple traumatic knee operations and experiencing the rewards of a successful treatment plan. Through this experience and clinical background, he has built his philosophy of care to utilize best practice guidelines-incorporating manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, education/motivational interviewing and modalities.

Through a goal-oriented approach, he looks forward to collaborating with any client/athlete to assist in injury management or prevention.

In his spare time, Andrew stays active resistance training, with a particular interest in recreational skiing, kayaking and soccer.

Andrew has appointments available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday afternoons and evenings.
